VeganMoFo day #5 - Raw and cooked at Chaco Canyon

The power came back at 9:30 this morning. woohoo. Today was the monthly Seattle Vegan Meetup. If you live in Seattle or are ever visiting and your timing is right, I highly recommend checking this out. We meet montlhy at a different restaurant. On the 4th of July and Thanksgiving (both Canadian and American this year) we meet for potlucks. Fun stuff.

This month we went to Chaco Canyon, a restaurant that serves raw and non-raw food.

Andy had an Elvis Smoothie comprised of Banana, peanut butter, agave and rice milk. It was good. I had hot cider with ginger and cinnamon. yum...

Basil Pesto Melt with Red Lentil Soup. The pesto was pretty salty, but over all it was really good. Pesto, vegenaise, vegan mozzarella (cut in slices), onions, tomatoes on a roll toasted panini style - it's been years since I've had a panini and I miss them. The menu said it has sprouts, but I didn't taste any.
This sandwich would be easy to make at home. I have used a waffle iron instead of a panini press before - I think I called them waffle-ninis, but maybe not because the name doesn't sound dumb enough. I don't have a panini press because I like to avoid single use appliances as much as possible.
The soup was a really really good dal with chunks of carrots.

Ginger Sesame Raw Bowl. Seaweed noodles and zuchinni noodles with a ginger sesame sauce. This was good. the seaweed was crunchy which was nice.
Pluot tart. This was essentially a vanilla cake with pluots baked in. I though it tasted sort of pasty. Not my favorite. for some reason, once in a while, Blogspot refuses to upload a pic correctly, no matter what I do. Oh well.

This week I'll be making tacos and posting the soft taco shell recipe I use. Super easy, hard to mess up, deliciousness.

That Ginger Sesame raw bowl looks nice! I have a disproportionate love for sea vegetables ever since my mom went macrobiotic for a summer. =)

That meal looks awesome! If I'm ever in Seattle, I know where I'll be eating for sure.

YUM! I'm in Seattle, too, and I'm going to have to give that place a try. I keep meaning to hit the Vegan Meetup, but I'm always a little sketchy on bringing the toddler - some people are just not into kids.

Kids come to the meetup. Not a million, but some. Personally, I love to see kids there. Hope to see you there someday ;-).
